The Fully Funded new Chinese Government Scholarship Silk Road Program is now available for the students of Belt and Road countries offer at Chongqing University for the academic year 2019-2025. This scholarship is available to citizens of Belt and road countries.
This New Silk Road Scholarship Program is provided to Chinese universities for recruiting the outstanding international young students from “Belt and Road” countries to pursue different degrees in China. In order to deepen the education cooperation with the “Belt and Road” countries and to cultivate professionals for these countries, the Ministry of Education P.R.C has set up the "Chinese Government Scholarship-Silk Road Program" since 2017".

Scholarship at Chongqing University (CQU):
Chongqing University (CQU) is a key national university and a member of the “Excellence League”, located in Chongqing, Southwest China. It is also one of the “211 Project" and "985 Project” universities with full support in construction and development from the central government and Chongqing Municipal Government.
Founded in 1929, Chongqing University now consists of six faculties in Science, Social Sciences, Humanities, Engineering, Built Environment, Information Science and Technology. The University has 35 schools, and offers 96 undergraduate programs, 236 postgraduate programs, 121 doctoral programs, 19 professional degrees, and 29 mobile workstations for postdoctoral study.

Admission and Entrance Requirements:
Applicants must meet the following list of requirements to avail scholarship:
- Applicants must be a citizen of Belt and Road countries cooperation.
- Must be in good health.
- Educational background and age limit are applied.
- Applicants for master’s degree studies must have a bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.
- Applicants for doctoral degree studies must have a master’s degree in a relevant academic background and be under the age of 40.

English Language Proficiency Requirements:
Applicants whose native language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English (English Language Proficiency Certificate is accepted which is issued by Home university) at the higher level required by the home University.
Qualification for Scholarship:
- Bachelor Degree is required to apply for this scholarship for Master Degree.
- Master Degree is required to apply for this scholarship for Doctoral Degree

Scholarships are available to pursue different Master and PhD degree programs.

Step 1: Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship
Applicants are required to fill in the application form on the website of China Scholarship Council and have the application form printed and signed.

Step 2: CQU online application
Create an account at the online application portal of Chongqing University at https://cqu.17gz.org/member/login.do , choose “Chinese Government Scholarship’, fill in the application form, upload the following application documents (the file size of each document is no bigger than 1M) and submit your application.
List of application documents to be uploaded:
1. Signed and scanned CSC application form (from Step 1)
2. Highest Diploma.
Applicants for master’s degree shall provide bachelor’s degree diploma. Prospective diploma recipients must submit official document issued by your current school to prove your current student status or expected graduation date. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.
3. Academic Transcript.
Applicants for master’s degree shall provide transcripts for bachelor’s degree. Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.
4. A Study Plan or Research Proposal
Applicants shall submit a study or research plan, with no less than 800 words in English.
5.Two Recommendation Letters
The applicants shall provide two recommendation letters by professors or associate professors in Chinese or English By Home University.
6.English Language Proficiency Certificate
Applicants not from English-speaking countries need to submit English proficiency certificate (TOFEL, IELTS, or English Instruction Certificate). Basically TOFEL: no less than 550, New TOFEL: no less than 75, IELTS: no less than 6.0. If necessary, interview will be arranged.
7. Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form
The form shall be filled in English (Please download the form from http://study.cqu.edu.cn/HOME/DOWNLOAD/For_Application.htm).
The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid.
8. Photocopy of Passport
9. Proof of non-criminal record: A a non-criminal record from the judicial department of your home country, or a certificate from your current university/employer indicating your performance. Languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.
10. Chongqing University Provisional Acceptance for International Student (if available).
Step 3: Payment of application fee
Please click “pay application fee” and pay 400 RMB application fee at the online application portal of Chongqing University after you submit your application.
Application without payment will be regarded as uncompleted. The application fee is non-refundable.
1.The application documents uploaded should be complete, clear, true and correct. Incomplete documents or application without payment will not be processed. Neither modification nor supplementary document shall be made upon submission.
2. Applicants are not required to send us hard copies of application documents.
